Styling Guide

The haircut is 50% of the process the other 50% is creating a style with product.

We've all been at the hairdresser shelf or the supermarket aisle confused by the dozens of choices. It's time to throw out the gel you've had since the 90's and get with the times.
Let's break down the key styling products and terms to make your life easier.

Defining Paste/Wax/Clay

These are your best friends when it comes to short/medium hair lengths. These products are all very similar. They have low shine and medium-high hold. Make sure you choose one with a "matte" look so it's not too shiny or wet looking.

Steps

1. Collect a pea sized amount of product on your forefinger and work it into all of your fingertips until it's spread even with no clumps or bumpy bits left in your hand.

2. Apply to the roots of your hair in a raking motion. (make sure the hair is completely dry) Push firmly into the top of your scalp and apply to the roots of every section you want to style.

3. Adjust/Add more product until all areas are evenly covered wth product.

4. Using the tips of your fingers style the top of the hairs to your desire. (If you put the product on the tips instead of the roots the hair will be too heavy and go flat half an hour after leaving the house)

Fiber/Mousse/Hair Oil

These products have a wetter finish and harder to use that your wax style products. (If it's your first attempt go for a wax/defining paste first)

This kind of product is perfect for medium/long hair

Steps

1. Cover the top third of your fingers in a dollup of the product. Spread evenly in tops of fingers.

2. Rake the product through the hair in the direction you want it to sit, start at the roots and work to the tip in a fluid sweeping motion.

3. Quickly adjust the hair the moment you've applied the product to the desired shape. (This kind of wet product sets very fast so this step is vital to do quickly)

4. Apply small amounts to your fingertips and fix up sections that need product. (Make sure you spread the product evenly, this kind of product will have a wet look and you don't want patches of dry and wet)

Sea Salt Spray/Volumising Spray

These products are perfect for anyone with fine hair or those who are wanting some extra life and volume. (They also smell amazing)

Steps

1. Simply spray the product into wet hair before drying with a blowdryer. Alternatively you can spray when hair is dry into the roots before you apply styling product.

2. Work the moisture of the product into your roots and you're done! (These products are used before styling with a wax/fiber and help enhance the overall look of your hair)
