Your Guide to Online Shopping

Online Shopping

As young teenagers we'd walk from store to store searching for clothes in our local shopping centre. Today, we have every item of clothing imaginable at our fingertips, thanks to online shopping.

I've compiled a list of handy tips to help you take advantage of the dynamic online marketplace.

Use a Google Search

When searching for your next item of clothing it's essential that you take advantage of Google. A search for "men's jeans" will populate multiple stores with jeans available.

Simply right click each result and open it in a new tab. This allows you to view multiple options at once with the click of a button.

Compare prices

Once you've found an item you like search for its name in Google. This will populate other sites currently selling the same item allowing you to find the lowest price. Often the same item can differ greatly in price based on sales and margins.

You know those annoying marketing emails that flood your inbox? They actually come in handy. Simply sign up to the free VIP/membership clubs of your favourite brands and they'll send you emails advertising sales. You will often get a birthday discount as well which realistically is a free added discount.

Know your size

Whilst an online store will allow an exchange, it's best to know whether the item fits before purchasing it. Most websites will have a 'size guide' or 'size chart' available. Once you've purchased a brand you'll get a good idea of the fit. Another option is to try the item on in-store, then simply purchasing the item online once you know your ideal size. It's also great to look at the models measurements if available. That way you can compare the fit on the model with your own measurements to gauge which size fits best.

Free Delivery

Nearly all online stores now offer free shipping when you make a purchase of $50 or more. Take advantage of this and buy a few items to save yourself money on the delivery fee. A lot of stores will offer post office collection called 'Parcel Point Delivery' allowing you to pick up the package from a post office or licensed newsagent nearby your residence.

Now that we've covered the main points I'll list some recommended websites to try out. Remember to shop around using Google and ensure you know your size before buying. Happy shopping!
