You know the drill. Buy a great shirt, or pair of jeans, wear it as many times as you can get away with. Eventually it has to visit the washing machine. It starts to fade, logo washes away, whites become less white, your jeans look cheaper, what on earth happened? Don't stress, these are all things you can avoid with some handy tips. Laundry is simple, but benefit yourself by doing it right.

Inside Out No joke, this is hands down the ultimate tip for washing clothes. Protect logos, prints, jeans and anything with colour. By washing inside out the harsher affects of the cleaning cycle hit the inner lining instead. This guards your clothing from the dreaded faded logos and washed out colour and gives them a longer life. (Anything delicate should be hand washed or as a minimum, washed inside out.)

Separate Colours Many guys simply empty their entire laundry basket into the washine machine, turn it on, and hope for the best. Wash your clothes in an order. Start with colours, empty the pockets, turn them inside out and wash them. Then repeat the process with your whites. (repeat with your towels/linen too when required) Dry Effectively It's important to hang your clothes once the washing machine is finished. The sooner you hang them, the fresher they will smell, no one likes the smell of stagnant laundry. Make sure you hang your clothing flat and straight, if hung without pegs in a non-windy area you can actually dry them in a way that requires little-to-no ironing. If you can, avoid using a dryer for anything besides linen, this limits the chance of your clothes shrinking. Also avoids peg marks and stretching of your clothes.
