Anti Hoarding: How to Effectively Clean Out Your Closet
In a world full of hoarders we need to take a deep breath and clean out the old faithfuls left hanging in the wardrobe. Your favourite jumpers and jeans might have looked cool five years ago, but they're probably friend-zone material now.
The Reverse Coat Hanger Trick
Turn all of your clothes hangers so they face the same direction.
Every time you wear an item of clothing return to it to the hanger and change the hangers direction.
A month later you will know which clothes you wear and which you dont based on the turned hangers.
This works well for everyday shirts and tee's, the items we tend to hoard. For anything else left over that isn't an everyday item, throw away if:
They are really faded
There are holes
Zipper/Buttons missing
Hems are fraying
People are embarrased to walk with you in public
Generally the higher quality the fabric, the longer it'll last. Either replace your cheap items regularly or buy higher quality items for a longer garment lifespan. Prolonging the lifespan of your clothes
Wash pants/print shirts inside out
Hand wash anything delicate or premium quality
Read the care label inside the bottom corner of your garments
Iron shirts inside out. (Only iron if the care label says it's safe)
Wash whites and colours separately
